Create a Yellow Neon Text Effect Using Styles

Photoshop CS1 (Adobe)

IN THIS ARTICLE:

Sample Text Effect

Below, Screenshot 1 shows one sample of the effect we will achieve. More examples will be shown at the end of this article.

Screenshot 1. Sample using the 'Kaufmann BT' font.

Add Text

Create a new RGB Color image with a Black background.
Press D on the keyboard to select the default colors.
Press X on the keyboard to switch the foreground and background colors.
Add 72pt white text.

Add Color Overlay Style

Choose Layer Style | Color Overlay from the Layer menu.
In the Color section:

Set the color to #FAFA98.

Verify all other settings match Screenshot 2:

Add Stroke Style

Select and enable the Stroke style.
In the Structure section:

Set Size to 1px.
Select Inside from the Position drop-down list.
Select Lighten from the Blend Mode drop-down list.
Set Opacity to 81%.
Set Soften to 6px.

In the Fill Type section:

Set the color to #FAFA91.

Verify all other settings match Screenshot 3:
